Now Read This > Preliminary Lessons > Saying the Alphabet

"Saying the Alphabet" is one of over two hundred movies in the English Literacy programme called Now Read This.

This movie will play through from beginning to end if left alone, but it also has complete interactive control. It is possible to interrupt the movie and get it to repeat any section or play on from any different point. There is a fast forward and fast reverse buttons, but at this stage it will not play in reverse at normal speed. This is a plan for the next version of this animation.
An animated programme that displays the alphabet letter by letter with visual hints on pronunciation. There is also a sound track of audible files that demonstrate the sound of each letter.
It is anticipated that this movie could be projected in a class room situation where the whole class could learn to say the abc along with the movie. It would also be useful to individual students with ear phones. The visuals are stunning enough on their own to be useful to deaf students and even in systems that do not have sound enabled.
An imaginative teacher could turn this movie into entertaining games, for example, get the students to guess the name of the letter, then click on it to see if they are correct.
